Something interesting about the Japanese version. They make it clear that Goku was raised in the woods and never learned proper English.

When I was younger I liked to imagine what it would be like to have Goku as a dad. He loved his kids so much, and the only reason he wasn’t in his children’s lives was because he died to protect the planet, not because he left them behind to find himself.
